Overview

There is lots to do for community youth every night of the week day at the Boys and Girls Club - West Scarborough. Youth can come in to the West Scarborough Neighbourhood Community Center for Youth Nights where they can play sports, join a dance group, go for a swim, join the Raising the Grade Scholarship program, take a cooking class, or just hang out with your friends. You can also join the Youth Council, Youth 2 Youth (Y2Y) workshops and Media Studies groups — plus, just by getting involved, they can earn your high school volunteer hours!

Interview with Boys Basketball Team Member

We interviewed a long time member of the West Scarborough Boys and Girls Club Youth Program and player of the boys basketball team: Fahim. He told us that he started playing basketball at the young age of 12. He was invited by some friends to come to drop-in basketball and the community center and decided to stay because of the friendly people and staff. Currently his favourite basketball player is LeBron James and he does not have a favourite basketball shoes. Among the games, he likes NBA 2K16 the best and he is also a big fan of Fortnite like many other youth. Not surprisingly, his current favourite NBA team is the Toronto Raptors, he said that growing up they were a weak team but now they are doing very good.
